Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students usually have limited exposure to STEM topics before my classes, and they don't have enough exposure to dreams about being in those careers until they hear that it is possible.

These classes, being hand-on and practical application oriented, are a major drive for many students to apply themselves and show up to school when they otherwise may not feel invested.

My engineering, computer science, and robotics classes allow the students to dream about being in STEM fields and perform with industry-standard programs and hands-on projects.

My students are genuinely interested in learning more about their options in life - they just need the chance to know there is more out there!

My Project

The items will be turned into microcontroller kits for the students to use while distance learning: being able to use their digital electronics skills and learn programming to combine breadboarding with Action!

This will allow them to really dive into the skills of engineering for their Internet of Things generation - being able to sense motion, or colors, or light and use that input to change displays, make motors move, and more!

With COVID protocols, there's no way to be able to share between students, so I need enough for all my students - instead of the few I've scrounged and bought that we normally pass between students and class periods pre-pandemic times.
