I love my students so much! They are so sweet, and thoughtful. They often bring me notes or pictures they have colored for me. They love to give me hugs and tell me that they love me. At the end of the day, when I ask them what their favorite part of the day was, many of them say, "spending the day with you." They fill my heart every day with so much love. I feel so lucky to have such amazing kids!
Let's be real, they are not sweet angels ALL of the time.
They are 6 and 7 years old and have a lot of energy. For most of them, this is their first year being in school all day, 5 days a week. It's hard to be amazing listeners and hard workers all day. I am a first year teacher, and I have been told that this time of the school year is especially hard. I have revamped my classroom management system and I'm trying to get them motivated to listen and follow the rules with fun prizes. I am also looking for other ways and tools to help my students be more engaged with my lessons.
My Project
My students are in first grade and have only experienced school during a pandemic. I want to be able to relieve some stress and reward their efforts by giving them "screen time," as well as Lego Time. This generation of kids are very motivated by earning some screen time, and an iPad is the perfect tool to fulfill this reward. The iPad will be used to help my students practice reading and math skills. I will also be using it to teach them how to create a stop motion film. Which leads me to the other items in this project--Legos!
First graders LOVE Legos and nothing helps build creativity and imagination like Legos do!
These particular Lego kits are designed for story telling. Once the kids have created a story with the Legos, they can put their stories to paper, and record them using stop motion. They will love it!
