BSC School serves students in grades Pre-K to 6. It provides rigorous academics, exemplary teachers, and a safe learning environment. Our goal is to close the achievement gap and prepare students for success in high school and college. Although we set high expectations for all learners in our building, we are faced with many challenges!
My school has a very high immigrant population and 60% of my grade four students are English Language Learners.
My students come from all around the world and from many different and often difficult situations. Based on my students low socioeconomic status, 100% receive free breakfast and lunch. The majority of my students are also being raised in single-parent homes or by their grandparents.
I am a fourth grade teacher in a low income, high poverty school district. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite these challenges, my students are enthusiastic learners and enjoy the daily structure that our classroom community provides them! My students inspire me to create high-quality, engaging lessons on a daily basis.
My Project
Our fourth grade classroom is filled with an abundant amount of awesome books of all genres! The books however are in many different crates and very old bookshelves of different sizes, which makes it difficult to keep them neat and organized.
With these two tall bookshelves, we should be able to organize all the books, so that the students can come up and choose a book to read more easily!
At this age, fourth grade students LOVE to read and I know they will appreciate being able to find a certain genre of book they are looking for, because the bookshelves will be more organized in the classroom!
