Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate leaders who come from a wide array of racial, economical, and linguistic backgrounds. About half of the students' first language is Spanish, while the other half speaks English as their primary language. Each student is in the process of learning and improving one of those two, as they become bilingual and biliterate.

Our school works hard to make sure students develop a strong sense of self, an ability to listen and learn from one another, and an ability to take an active role in changing their surrounding community for the better.

In a district that has been slowly defunding many of the supports we have for students, we are needing to rely more and more on parent contributions and outside donations.

My Project

My students need age-appropriate tables for their size. My last project aimed to fulfill this, but the most affordable tables were out of stock when it was funded! This meant I had to purchase more expensive tables, and was only able to fulfill 4 of the 6 that we need.

I am hoping to get the last 2 tables we need to complete our classroom set before this school year starts.

If we can receive funding, we can start the year off with our room ready to go - rather than with a mix of tables that don't fit. Please help us reach our goal!
