Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a second year teacher in a low-income school district, there are many resources that my students need to use to learn in order to become successful. This includes resources such as technology, writing utensils, reading materials, mathematics manipulatives, and structural materials to create an organized, comfortable and inviting classroom. Teaching in a low-income school district means that my students are faced with challenges inside and outside of the classroom. I want to provide my students with essential learning utensils to help them succeed.
My classroom will include twenty-four compassionate, creative, and eager learners who want to be successful and change the world.
In my classroom, my students face a number of challenges. Ninety percent of my students come to school knowing English as their second language. Many of my students are homeless or live in a multi-family household with limited resources. Some come from households where they are raised by a single parent who works two or three jobs. Despite these challenges, my students are dedicated to learning and make the best out of all situations. Having more resources for these children will help them be more confident and successful learners. Let's help them meet their goals!
My Project
My students are in desperate need of laptops! They do not have computers at home, and it is so important for their academic achievement that they at least have access to this technology at school. We will use these Chromebooks to read online, participate in math lessons, code, and learn to type.
These incredible kids need your help to get them the technology they need to succeed in school.
These laptops are vital in helping my students catch up in their ability to utilize technology. At this point, many have only tried coding once or twice, and they need a lot of support in learning how to navigate and utilize the websites that will facilitate their learning. These Chromebooks would mean so much, and they would be so much fun for the kids to have in the classroom!
