Help me give my students two new computers that work! All students will be able to use them, but right now, I especially need the students who just joined my class to use them.
The school population has a broad socioeconomic base and is ethnically diverse:
Hispanic 46%, Asian 30%, Filipino 13%, White 3%, two or more races 3%, Black 3%, American Indian/Alaska Native 1%, and Pacific Islander 1%.
55% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch.
The district-funded instructional programs at our school are supplemented by School-Based Coordinated Program (SBCP), Title I, Economic Impact Aid (EIA) and Title VI. Kindergarten/first grade students who score below the district-defined expectations on criterion-based assessment, and second-to-sixth grade students who score below the 50th percentile in reading, and/or math on the Stanford Achievement Test are given priority in our Title I Schoolwide Program. These students represent 60% of the student body.
My Project
Please help me buy two new Chromebooks for my second graders! With the new Chromebooks, my students who just joined my class will be able to practice beginning reading skills and numbers using online programs that we have at school like Lexia, Starfall, AR, freckle, Rosetta Stone, Epic and more! Older computers at our school are no longer compatible with these terrific, engaging programs! And my students are much more motivated by these programs than by worksheets. They are rewarded with points or prizes for making progress. They have so much fun, and do not always realize just how much they are learning! Please donate any amount that you are able to. We will make excellent use of them.
