Mr. Marshall from Columbus OH is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a laptop.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Many of my students face difficult personal challenges and I'm often amazed at their resilience. I teach 5th graders. Even though we have limited technology, I want to find ways to foster 21st Century Skills in my students, especially through effective communication and collaboration.
I have a class of 21 eager and energetic students.
These students overcome adversity everyday when they simply walk through my classroom doors. They come from an impoverished area, where opportunities are limited. I love helping my students reach their full potential. My students are hard working, energetic, eager to learn students. They are excited about every new topic I present to them. We learn lessons that go beyond standards. Lessons that are useful for growth throughout life. My school is located in a impoverished area, and has been listed as a failing school. My classroom is a place where barriers and walls can come down and my students can flourish because they know I only want them to be great. I have never seen such a caring and loving bunch of kids. They are always eager to please their teacher, and it seems like pleasing me in return makes them happy.
Right now, I have one laptop that is outdated. Students are easily frustrated with my lessons because the technology and software are not up to par. Help me change that by bringing in a Macbook that can keep up with their educational needs. By giving students access to up-to-date technology, they will be able to do valuable research, collaborate on projects, improve their typing and writing skills, create presentations, and much more! This generation must learn to communicate effectively with each other and through technology in order to be successful in high school and beyond. I will also be able to hook this laptop up to our smart board and complete lessons. Being able to have access to use a MacBook Pro laptop during school, trainings, and at home would allow me to reinforce the skills I will be learning from the professional development training sessions which include common core state standards, literacy foundations, and our new math program My Math.
I will be able to engage my students with a variety of materials that will help them access information in different modalities.
Having the laptop accessible to me would allow me to integrate technology in my class and enhance my students' learning.
