My Students

Math and language arts together? You got it! Incorporating language arts into the other core subject areas should be a common practice for all teachers. It's time to tweak traditions. I will use literature to introduce topics, study difficult vocab, and tackle abstract ideas in a unique way!

My students are very resilient and full of love.

In my classroom, we are a little family. I have very high expectations when it comes to respect for themselves and respect for others. Character education is a guiding principle in my classroom. We are at a building wide Title I school. This basically means that we have a very high number of free/reduced lunch students. Most of my students are from a low socioeconomic household. Regardless of my students' financial difficulty they are all committed to their learning and show great enthusiasm when it comes to learning. As a first year teacher, acquiring supplemental materials can be very expensive. After attending a teacher's conference, I am cannot wait to incorporate these texts in my classroom and to share throughout my building with my colleagues.

My Project

My goal is to prepare my students for their future. With these children's math texts, I will be able to help students who struggle with a wide range of skills such as reading/comprehension, fluency, problem solving, and reasoning. I will use them to introduce topics, create a meaningful connection with difficult topics, provide differentiated instruction to reach all learners, allow students to share and collaborate with each other and to summarize and assess a student's learning. Not only will these books help me, but also to my whole school.

My students will benefit immediately from your selfless donation.

Including literature in math will model to students that reading is important and will be involved with every aspect of their lives. My enthusiasm and passion for reading will motivate learners and make the content much more meaningful. Thank you for your consideration.
