Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are amazing but have some challenges when it comes to receiving extra help. I work at a career academy where our students are bused in from their home schools daily. As a result, several students have transportation challenges when it comes to getting help before or after school.

Most of my students come from a free and reduced lunch background, but they are hard workers and most love to challenge themselves.

I teach chemistry, so the majority of my students are planning on some form of post secondary education.

My Project

Due to the nature of my school, most of my students are bused in from their home schools for their classes. Unfortunately, this makes it extremely hard for several students to come to before and after school tutorials. To combat this issue, I have been using Zoom meetings to tutor students online, which has been quite successful in helping students pass Chemistry.

Unfortunately, I have lost access to the document camera I have been using, and without the camera, I do not have the technology necessary to continue my program.

This camera will allow me to continue to meet the needs of all my students, not just the students with their own transportation.
