Two years ago the superintendent wrote a grant and got each special education classroom a Smart Board and an Epson projector. I would like my students to be able to fully utilize this technology and enrich their technology experience.
My students range from 2nd - 6th grade.
At our elementary school we use the Resource Room concept, which means I teach a very diverse population and the students are sometimes with their peers in the general education classroom. Our classroom is in a public K - 6 elementary school that is in a rural area. Our district has four elementary school buildings and a combined junior high and high school building. My students amaze me every day with their progress. Our goal is to include real world experiences into their academic and social learning.
My Project
The students have been able to further their learning with the Smart Board by practicing new concepts, reviewing skills, and wanting to become more involved with their learning. It is my goal that by incorporating the iPad, the students will have a second device to further practice skills and concepts. The iPad will also be able to be used with the Smart Board for more interactive learning opportunities.
Schools across the nation are lacking funding for technology.
My district has not bought classroom computers since 2008. The teachers and the PTC (Parent Teacher Club) are hoping that through donations, the funds that we have raised, and Donor Choose, we will be able to give our students the experiences they need to compete for future jobs. These materials will provide my students with a better learning environment.
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
As a teacher-founded nonprofit, we're trusted by thousands of teachers and supporters across the country. This classroom request for funding was created by Mrs. Ruberg and reviewed by the DonorsChoose team.
