This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My school has a dynamic learning environment where we empower all students to become independent thinkers.

A positive learning environment is what I strive to create for my students.

My PreK class is full of creative, curious, and talented individuals. They love to share and are hungry for knowledge! I work with amazing students that come from a variety of backgrounds. They love coming to school every day and learning, and I want to ensure they have all the necessary materials to be successful not only at school, but at home as well.

My Project

My preschool students love to listen to stories and explore books, but our class library is currently less than inviting. The hard tile floor makes it difficult to cozy up with a good book. A rug will help make the space more inviting. My students love reading so much that the library often gets too crowded and some of my little readers love to spread out on our circle time rug. This rug has seen better days though and does not fit our whole class. My readers would love to sprawl out on new, clean rugs that have a space for everyone!

Studies show time and time again how important it is for young children to be exposed to literature, to be read to, and to read and look at pictures on their own.

With new collections of books, my students will be able to explore a more varied selection of good quality literature.
