My students need headphones, headsets and audio splitters to maximize their learning with iPads, and storage caddies to organize these new materials.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our iPads are transforming both the way students learn and how they share their learning. But when everyone is listening to different videos or recording their voices at the same time, it is loud and distracting! Headphones will quiet our learning and the splitters will still allow collaboration
My students inspire me to teach.
While most of them come from homes that cannot afford to pay for their school lunch, they remain eager to learn and read. Since Spanish is the dominant language in many of our students' homes, our school offers a dual language program in half of our classrooms. Students learn mostly in Spanish in kindergarten with the goal that they will read and write in Spanish and English fluently by fifth grade.
As a charter school, we provide innovative programming. We believe that students who are healthy and active will do better in school. We provide an hour of gym each day and teachers strive to engage students actively in their learning. We have seen success in both reducing BMI levels and increasing test scores to levels much higher than other schools in our area.
My Project
My students are thrilled to work with our set of iPads in the library this year. They are creating videos, eBooks and illustrations, and listening to videos during their independent research time. With headphones, listening to audio will not distract other students. When they are recording their own voices, the headsets will improve the audio quality by limiting background noise. The audio splitters will allow collaboration since two students will be able to work together and hear the same audio. The storage caddies for each library table will allow students to take good care of the new materials.
This request will deepen the impact that iPads have on our students' learning.
This will allow them to use apps that we have shied away from because the noise limited focus. We will have clearer student recordings that we can post on our website, so that parents can view what their children are learning in the library. Students will be able to listen together to audio and improve their collaboration skills. With these materials we can fully utilize iPad technology
