My Students

My high school students come from very diverse backgrounds and demonstrate daily how we can work together despite our differences. My classes consist of wonderful young men and young women who are working toward meeting the demanding challenges of Math 3 which includes trigonometry, statistics, probability, log and exponential equations, and many more challenging topics. They show up every day with a smile and a "good morning," ready to take on the new material. I am amazed at their resilience and perseverance.

My Project

With all of the distractions high school students have in a given day, when test time comes around it is sometimes hard to settle in and focus. In my classroom, I try to structure the test environment in such a way as to minimize distractions and hopefully maximize student performance on assessments. I want students to be able to relax and "show me what they know."

Unfortunately, with 38 kids in a classroom, personal space is at a premium.

However, through the use of test carrels, each student will be able to have his/her own little bubble to work in free from distractions that might be going on around them. By funding our project you will be contributing to the success of my students as they take their exams in peace.
