My Students
Our school exists to create college-ready students in a neighborhood where most of the schools are not properly preparing them. Serving grades 6-12, our charter school works hard to ensure that our students have a bright future.
I teach 3 sections of about 30 wonderful 6th graders.
The majority of my students are English language learners with 8 SPed students. All my students deserve to have the support and opportunities to help them reach the goal of being college-ready.
Please help support the future leaders of tomorrow on their journeys.
My Project
Many 6th graders struggle with focusing, but this issue can be made worse by distractions in the classroom. Having a large array of reading levels and abilities in one classroom can further add to the attention issue most students face.
When students have music, they are not only better focused but more likely to remain on task for extended periods of time.
The noise can drown out the miscellaneous sounds of the classroom that might otherwise cause constant distractions. Individual music players could also motivate students and encourage independent reading and work time. I would love to give my students the opportunity to focus on and better their reading skills and stamina.
