My students are entering middle school and are on a quest to discover the different realms of earth science. They are from a rural school in Northeast Georgia. They are full of energy and life. My sixth graders enjoy hands-on activities, where they get to put action behind their learning.
Many of my students love science, and I don't want this love to fade.
My students need supplies to make their learning take flight. With new resources, students will be met at a variety of modalities, in order to reach higher order thinking and learning.
My Project
During our meteorology unit students study the weather and really look in depth at weather prediction. We go a step further and look into weather folklore. Students research how people predicted weather in the past and decide if it is still a credible way to predict the weather.
Students will have the opportunity to make weather come alive as they create their own weather report using weather folk-lore in front of a green screen.
This STEM inspired project has students creating props, scripts and everything in order to design an engaging video. Students really buy into this project and we even have a viewing party to see everyone's report.
