Our students are part of a small, rural school. They are positive, motivated and have a strong desire to succeed. Due to our location, most students have limited access to experiences outside of the classroom, so we as teachers work to provide as many in-school experiences as possible that go beyond the standard classroom expectations.
Our students are passionate about pushing their educational experiences as far as they possibly can go.
They often take a diverse course of study and try for as many real-world applications as possible to prepare for their future.
My Project
Students in our choral ensembles are working on developing their sight-reading abilities. Students work on small passages at the beginning of class and then later apply that knowledge to their choral literature. This helps students to become stronger individual musicians and therefore strengths our ensembles and choral program as a whole.
Having chromatic pitch pipes available for them to provide themselves with starting pitches puts the learning in their hands.
The students will be able to support themselves in working on solfege exercises and this makes the learning even more meaningful. It will also help them to develop stronger musicianship skills for current and future applications.
