This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are excited to learn and connect. They are natural storytellers and seek safety and inclusion. We are a community of learners and multiple languages are spoken. We honor students backgrounds and I strive to create a comfortable and challenging learning environment. Many of our students are from Central America, México, and the Philippines. Their families have been through a lot to be here. They have rich and diverse cultures. They value education and I feel extremely blessed to be their teacher in these early years of kindergarten and first grade.

My Project

Lots of my students learn in homes with many others around. Privacy and workspace is a luxury and not all students have access. These headphones will helm them to have a little privacy and quiet while we learn together online, while they read and practice important concepts and skills. Sharing work space is part of what families have had to adjust to during this quarantine, safer at home time. Students need headphones to focus on the lessons and online learning. We can hear each other much better and tune out noise.
