My Students
My students are bright, energetic, and happy learners! I love to come to work each day. My students keep me on my toes with their thirst for knowledge. My dream is to have enough instruments and resources to equip each student for a bright future. We are among those affected by Hurricane Harvey and are working hard to build a better future. My students would benefit from having access to a classroom set of drums that accumulates one by one.
My Project
At a former workplace, I had access to several sets of Tubano drums. I was amazed to see how quickly the students connected through drumming, so I want to offer the same experience for my present school population. Drumming engages all students regardless of their skill level. They work hard to master the different strokes which develops their self control and perseverance.The students grow in their ability to form part of a community that strives for development of ensemble playing skills. They feel connected and responsible for their part of “the big picture.” And drumming is lots of Percussive FUN!
