My Students

The students in my music classroom come each week eager to try new things, create unique sounds, and express musical ideas. They participate enthusiastically in every available musical opportunity. Most of my children have very limited financial resources and so they long for anything I can provide to enrich their educational environment.

My students are talented but need encouragement to realize their potential; through musical activities, they learn the value of working hard as individuals and as members of a group.

My Project

Drumming activities are an important and exciting part of music class. Our students love to play the drums and learn a great deal about rhythm, musical form, cooperation, and teamwork through drum circles. We have incorporated these activities in our classroom for quite some time but often find ourselves short of drums to service the entire class. Even with sharing, there are students waiting for turns to play, which cuts down on our precious and productive instructional time. These tubano drums would give us more resources to accommodate whole-class participation in music class activities.

Percussion instruments are used by our music students nearly every class period.

Providing these additional resources will contribute to the success of our students.
