Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic and amazing kids from the southside of Chicago. Most of the kids I teach are faced with challenges in their lives, both at home and at school. As their music teacher, I hope to help my students by encouraging them to express themselves in positive ways.
My students love music class because they get a chance to share a creative experience with their peers.
Our school is run on a bare bones budget, and funding for the arts is just not there. Your donation would help to provide a quality musical experience for deserving students.
My Project
Our school band is the pride of the school. The students love being able to participate in one of the only elementary school band programs in the area, and we count on donors like you to make a quality band program in an underfunded urban school a reality.
Our brass and woodwind players are in need of some basic supplies in order to keep their instruments in good working order.
Reeds are essential for sound production on saxophones and clarinets, and they don't last forever. The same goes for valve and slide oil for trumpets and trombones! We are running low on these essential oils. It would be wonderful to be able to provide a new bottle to each student. The kids really take pride in their instruments, which are school-owned. A new bottle of "blue juice" would motivate them to properly maintain their instrument and to practice even more!
We are going to be competing at a band festival for the first time this year, and I don't want supply issues to get in the way of a stellar performance. The kids love to practice and learn new music on their instruments. With your help, we can set up the school band with the supplies they need for the rest of the school year! Thank you for your help.
