Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are missing school, missing their friends and teachers, and are ready to start school like never before: virtually. Though we are disappointed that our students won't be able to come back in-person this fall, we're grateful that they'll be safe and are ready to teach and learn through some great new virtual tools.
We all know learning and working from home can be difficult, especially if there are distractions.
That's why we'd love to open up our school year with our 2nd graders with a fun activity that will allow them to express their creativity and teach their classmates and teachers more about themselves, while also creating a personal virtual learning tool to help keep them focused on their learning at home.
We'd like to provide our second graders with materials to create and decorate their own Truesdell Trojan Study Space. Materials needed are tri-fold poster board, cardstock to print out letters/images, glue sticks, and crayons for 60 students.
Our Truesdell Trojans are hard-working, resilient, creative, intelligent, outstanding children that deserve the best education and distance learning experience we can offer them. Your contribution will help them start out their 2nd grade year with success!
My Project
These materials will help my students create a tri-fold study space that will allow them to express themselves creatively, organize learning tools and scaffolds that they normally wouldn't have at home (letter/sound/phonics charts, mini anchor charts, etc.) and to create a quiet and peaceful personal space that is there to help them focus and be virtual learning scholars.
Students will be able to share their spaces with one another, practicing social emotional learning through learning about each other, sharing ideas, and providing feedback to peers.
This project will also show students their ability to be independent and help themselves to be the best they can be. Through creating a learning space themselves, they will learn they have the power to solve problems.
