Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in a low income community. Most of our students come from a home where parents struggle to provide their children with the necessary school supplies.
As a teacher I wish for my students to count with the best resources and supply to work with, but unfortunately I cannot provide it out of my pocket.
Although our district creates a general supply list per grade level with the basic supplies, most students begin school empty handed. Anything that can be donated will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your kindness!
My Project
I selected the items with my students best interest in mind. The Power Pens and cards will provide a fun way for my students to practice their reading comprehension skills which unfortunately in our area students struggle to develop. Many of our students whose primary language is Spanish therefore they have a limited vocabulary, the flashcards can refer back when working on their writing. The construction paper and pencils will allow my students to learn comfortably without having to worry if they have the necessary supplies to create the interactive journals. Every single item listed will be used appropriately in my classroom with my students best interest in mind. Thank you in advance for your support.
