Help me give my students a water quality multimeter and calibration solutions to allow them to regularly test the water quality of our local watershed.
We are a small school in a rural community trying to do big things. The students are mostly from low income families. They all receive free breakfast and over 80% are on a reduced price lunch program, but they all take pride in their hometown and community. Most of them participate in any activity that the school has to offer including the Science Fair, Drama Club, Track and Field.
Our school's staff would like to expose students to everything that we can but funding is often an obstacle.
With your help, we can help the students achieve great things.
My Project
Every year our school works with NH Fish and Wildlife and Trout Unlimited to teach the students about watershed ecology through our trout in the classroom project. Every year I drive more than 200 miles to borrow water quality testing equipment from NH Fish and Wildlife.
I would like to have a multimeter in our classroom so that I can test our dissolved solids, pH, temperature and conductivity more than once a year.
Our students will have more opportunities to use the testing equipment and be able to work with the real data that they collect to ensure that the water quality of the stream is healthy enough for the brook trout fry that we have raised in the classroom and are about to release.
