Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As a middle school basketball coach, the health and well-being of our student-athletes are of utmost importance to our coaching staff. We have identified student-athletes on our team that deserves to be rewarded for their positive behavior on and off the court needed to continue learning and growing as middle school basketball players. If our student-athletes have external rewards to fuel their scholar work, and game play is another tool to fashion growth amongst our learners.

This project will afford our most dedicated middle school girls student-athletes trophies for classroom, and basketball gameplay achievements, to continue learning and growing during our after-school practices and games.

I would like trophies to motivate and encourage students to exhibit positive behavior. After every game, and once a month students are recognized during our student of the month ceremony. They receive a certificate and get their picture taken to display their accomplishment. Providing students with trophies will encourage them to strive to do the right thing, even when no one is watching! Trophies will be distributed on a monthly basis for students to keep, take home, and proudly display on their desks!

Students will be able to share with their families what they did to earn the trophy and set an example for other students.
