Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic and enthusiastic learners. They come to school with a range of abilities and aptitudes reflecting their diverse backgrounds. Many are still acquiring fluency in English.
Although they come from a community with fewer privileges than others in the Silicon Valley, our students have unlimited potential.
We are working hard every day achieve so that they can compete with the best of the students in the Silicon Valley. Our students deserve to have quality materials to help them achieve their personal best.
My Project
During science class, we are working on training students to use the science and engineering processes that true scientists use. We are great and asking questions. We are improving on developing and using models and carrying out investigations.
However, when we get to analyzing and interpreting data we hit a major roadblock.
We don't have accurate scales to measure the mass of various objects. It is really discouraging when we can't get any measurements for mass and weight. So we can't prove the theory of conservation of matter in chemical reactions. We can't even weigh simple objects for quantitative data for observations. Therefore, we are requesting 3 triple beam balances to use during science labs to weigh the materials we are using. Please help me develop and inspire the next generation of observant and accurate scientists by giving them the tools to accurately observe and record their observations.
