Help me give my students quality game board materials in order to create a final product that they feel excited to share with their friends and family.
Our entire staff is dedicated to making sure that every student can thrive in a rigorous academic environment that is also full of student activities and experiential learning opportunities.
Additionally, it is our priority to create and maintain our positive school culture and climate.
The majority of them come from households living below the poverty line and it is important to our school to offer them opportunities and materials to realize their goals.
This project would benefit all students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. They are a very diverse and eclectic group. This project will give them the opportunity to share with family and friends their learning, creativity and success.
My Project
This creative and cross-curricular project will incorporate research, technology, problem solving skills, and reflection. Students will work in groups to make a board game that teaches the player about a Social Science Unit. Sixth grade will focus on Ancient Greece and Seventh grade will focus on Medieval Europe and Eighth grade will focus on the Civil War. The students will be invested because they will also be given an opportunity present their games to their peers, friends and family at our first annual ‘Middle School Game Night'.
The materials selected for this project will be used so that the students can build their games using high quality materials rather than simple construction paper.
With the game boards, pens, markers, tape, and brushes, students will be able to produce a final product that is durable and they can have pride in. By having actual game boards students will be more invested in creating the highest quality product that capable of.
This lesson will focus on higher level questioning as students collaborate and learn to work together to solve problems and create something unique.
This project is student centered. They are given a list of questions and an objective. They will have to strategize how to get it completed in the time frame. They will then have to use critical thinking skills to solve problems as they arise. Finally, it will be fun and rewarding as they build their sense of community at 'Middle School game Night'.
