I teach in a small Title I school with high percentages of diverse learners including English language learners and special education students. We are in a military-connected district which means a lot of students are very transient. Most of my students come from hardworking homes where parents are working multiple jobs.
Students come to school and become a part of our family.
This school becomes so much more than somewhere our kids come to learn. They come to see their friends, and be loved by their teachers. Despite the struggles that they have at home, my students impress me each day with their resilience and desire to learn. They are an amazing bunch.
My Project
This project will let my students have new seating options in our classroom. Just like as adults we like to choose different places to sit, our students like that, too.
In my classroom, I like to give my students the choice of where to sit so they can be as productive as possible.
This allows them to pick whether they want to lay on the floor with a clipboard, sit at a desk, or stand at a table. This tall table will be a good addition so that they can sit on a stool or stand. I think my students will be very excited for a new seating option!
