I am an energetic science and history teacher, who is always trying to enhance my students' learning experience while at school! I teach an average of seventy students each school year. We are located in a primarily low-income, rural area of our state, with around 85% of our students riding a bus to school on the long back country roads. We also have a high percentage of students on our free or reduced-price lunch program.
My students are all very special to me as they are each unique in their own way.
I try to help engage children in reading. What better way than to do this in science and history, right?! I love teaching and knowing that I get to reach so many children in my life.
My Project
I would love to expand my classroom library with books that support science and history. Mary Pope Osborne has written some amazing books that focus on adventure throughout time. A set of “The Magic Tree House” and “Merlin Missions” would be the perfect addition.
Engaging students and encouraging reading to students who struggle is what I need to accomplish.
Adults and children alike will not read unless a book appeals to them. These two series of books are both engaging and fun and I hope they captivate some of my challenged readers' interests making them want to read more.
