My school is on the border of Arkansas and Oklahoma. The district is the county seat and serves many low income families including Native Americans and Hispanic students. Many teachers travel across the border to Arkansas for better pay and resources.
My students are energetic, creative, thoughtful and full of questions!
In second grade, they are learning to enjoy, experience, and travel to worlds unknown through reading a variety of text.
Many students have difficulty completing assignments at school and home because of lack of supplies and resources.
Research shows children learn in a variety of ways, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn.
In the photo I have provided you see my students learning to venture to new experiences through their stories. I am asking for book boxes because the ones I am using are cardboard post office boxes cut in half and painted, which are disintegrating.
My Project
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus through the wobble seating, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
My students use their book boxes multiple times a day.
The current book boxes I have are cardboard post office boxes painted white. They are falling apart leaving the students books in heap across the floor. Hard plastic book boxes will enable my students to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not continually focusing on the gingerly way to pick up the book box.
The magnetic tiles are for math centers, STEM activities and indoor recess, to stimulate the students creativity and imagination. We currently have no STEM resources.
