Help me give my students these colored tri-folds, privacy shields, glue sticks, pencils, supply caddies, and a set of portable writing desks so that they can be ready to begin their educational journey back through time.
My 3rd grade class is a community of 25 very active students who come from very diverse backgrounds. My classroom is located in Shady Cove in a high-poverty school district, where 96% of the students qualify for free lunch or reduced lunch and a staggering 55% of is likely to become displaced at sometime during the year due to unstable or temporary living situation.
Knowing that they come to school from a variety of family and living situations, I always try to teach them right away about what it means to be a person of good character, to be respectful, to be responsible, and how we can all overcome adversities, show compassion, and be tolerant towards others.
My Project
By helping me provide my class with this set of glue sticks, colored tri-folds, study corrals, pencils, and writing desks you will be helping my students get ready to begin their educational journey back through time. A trip that will start off with a look at self worth, perseverance, and tolerance, and then will continue with research and writing all aimed at telling about a specific heroes life. They will then create a display board about their heroes life, and then finally perform at our long awaited mid-year skit, the Wax Museum. At which they will showcase their research by dressing up, standing in front of their tri-folds, and then speaking in first person (a if they were that hero) in front of the whole school and, eventually, for the whole community. It is a night and experience that they won't soon forget, and it is all thanks to you!
