Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

In our world today where students and teachers face challenges and struggles to achieve test scores, it is easy to forget the real act of teaching and learning. It is no wonder that teachers and students must maximize instruction with the available resources. This is a much stronger need at a Title I school, where 80% of our student population in economically disadvantaged, identified at risk and have a large group of English Language Learners. Since Reading is the basis for all subject and content areas, it is the one subject that I emphasize day in and day out. For this reason, my proposal is to purchase 2 Folder and Tray Cubbies (found through Classroom Direct). The use of these cubbies will facilitate reading in the classroom. Students will be able to have the variety of Reading genres at their fingertips without having to do much hunting. This is will be an additional reading resource in their classrooms that will strongly promote reading while all diverse groups are addressed. In addition, our team of third grade teachers (6) will be able to provide clear instruction through the use of the VoiceSaver (found in Classroom Direct). This will also enable our teachers to protect their vocal cords while great instruction is provided on a daily basis.
