Traveling the World Through Books, Global Connections, and Technology
Help me give my students an Oculus Go virtual reality headset to go on virtual field trips. They will be able to go beyond our walls and explore the world with this state of the art STEM technology!
My students, past and present, are my Rock Stars! I absolutely love my job, and I am always looking for ways to reach and teach all of my students. Thanks to good parenting and a positive classroom culture, my Rock Stars are kind, polite, intelligent, fun, creative, thoughtful and enthusiastic learners!
They come to school each day excited to learn!
The primary years are such important years! I love to watch them grow both personally and academically. Although they are all very different, they all have one thing in common, they beg their parents to get to school as soon as the doors open! We have a lot of fun rooted in STEM in our classroom, just look at our picture!
My Project
As Saint Augustine stated, "The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page." The majority of my students have never been out of our city, let alone, out of our state. A huge part of my teaching style focuses on experiencing the world via global connections. We study other countries, and then video conference with students from those countries. This helps my students see the world and how connected they are. If students are given opportunities to meaningfully interact with one another we can create a lifetime of positive change.
The addition of an Oculus Virtual Reality headset will make it possible for my students to take Virtual Field Trips and immerse in different surroundings like never before.
National Geographic, Time VR, Discovery VR, and Google Earth VR are just a few examples of different tools that they will be able to use. The Oculus Go Virtual Reality Headset would bring the entire world to my students. They would be able to take a virtual field trip on a guided tour of distant places. My students will have the ability to explore distant lands, other cultures, and unique geographical landmarks. This headset also has the ability to simulate historical events from the past. A friend used the Oculus Go Virtual Reality headset at a conference and experienced being in Anne Frank's room. She couldn't believe what she saw and heard. I want to bring those kind of experiences to my students (age appropriate of course)!
The Oculus Go Virtual Reality headset will change the way my students see the world! I want to enrich their experiences and take them wherever they want to go in our beautiful world!
