Our school serves children in grades pre-k to 5th grade. Many of our students are 1st and 2nd generation immigrants who are new to the English language. Some of our students are currently living in transitional housing. Additionally, we have a large special needs population.
Our students love to be in school and to learn!
Many of our students have difficult home lives and being at school provides a safe environment. PS 164 is like a second family to our students and our staff.
My Project
Our students very rarely leave our neighborhood. A trip to historic Philadelphia would be an opportunity to walk through and experience Colonial life. It would provide them with first hand experiences of visiting the birthplace of our nation and see what life was really like for our founding fathers.
Our students will get to experience a walking tour of historic Philadelphia, including Benjamin Franklin's grave and the site of his home.
Students will also get to go into Independence Hall and see where the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution were signed. Students will learn more about our Constitution at the National Constitution Center, which includes interactive exhibits and a live action film.
Philadelphia is a trip that our students talk about for years to come. Please help us make this trip a reality for our students!
