My Students

My students are motivated, hard-working individuals that come each and every day ready to learn, ready to try, ready to overcome mistakes they had the day before, and ready to give their 100% each day even when it is tough. Many of my students come from mixed homes and homes that have been through trauma and poverty, but that does not stop their motivation or drive to make good choices and to be exceptional. With my love of growth mindsets, we talk about how to turn situations around and see the positives and talk about what they can control. This offers students choices in their lives and a new way to look at the world around them.

My Project

My students need some new books at their level to explore the world of fiction and nonfiction. Each of the guided reading sets contains 20 books (with a total of 65 books for this project). These books will be used for book groups, classroom read aloud, independent reading time and will be used year after year! Students will use these books to add to their own thinking of the world, to collaborate with their peers through book discussions, and get lost in a book. My students are motivated to read and even get sad when it is time to put books away and learn about other content. These books will help their minds expand, grow, and strengthen their vocabularies in multiple ways. Each of these books is needed in the classroom for students to excel in their learning.
