My students need additional supplies for our BLAST Found Sound ensemble! Inspired by "Stomp," my school has Marion County's ONLY elementary found sound group. They have previously been entertaining audiences using only 5 gallon buckets!
My elementary music students are an extraordinary bunch! Our school is located within walking distance of a state correctional institution and for that reason, many of my students live in this neighborhood to be near family members who are incarcerated. Our schoolpopulation is 100% free/reduced lunch in a low-income community.
Our community may be small, but we have no shortage of passion for music!
Our music programs here thrive and continue to be a source of joy, creativity, solace for our students.
My Project
For my elementary students, music is a creative outlet and we pride ourselves on being resourceful! Two years ago, a special group of students helped me create BLAST Bucket Drumming which is our select percussion ensemble. We make music using 5 gallon buckets and have been entertaining audiences using solely those... and our ever-growing percussion skills!
We are ready to expand!
Inspired by "STOMP!" we are ready to incorporate trash cans, brooms, and more. My students value and love the time they spend being creative with music and I am certain these supplies will enhance their learning and performance experiences!
