My school is a K-12 Charter school located outside of Charleston, South Carolina. Our 3rd Grade classes are filled with students from all different backgrounds and varying abilities. My hope is to provide our students with the transportation to a the adaption of "Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells" at the historic Dock Street Theatre! Our 3rd Grade team strives to make our students' experiences at school something meaningful that they will remember forever.
Our 3rd Grade students are eager to learn, enthusiastic, and love adventures.
They love to read, create, and learn as much as they can. Our students have shown a growing interest in the performing arts! As a project-based school, we want to do a novel study of the book "Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells" and then attend a live play!
Our school is committed to providing all students a safe and exceptional academic environment that cultivates independent learning, character enrichment, and regional awareness while developing accountable leaders, community stewards, and diverse thinkers through project-based experiences.
My Project
This year our 3rd grade students have shown a passion for the performing arts and are developing a passion for reading. Our students have worked independently by reading books and increasing their reading stamina. After implementing a related arts course of dance into our curriculum, our students have increasingly grown interested to reader's theater.
We would love to be able to do a novel study and provide transportation for our students to the historic Dock Street Theatre to view the live play of "Junie B Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells!
Although our students have seen books turned into movies, we would love to give them an experience of a lifetime by providing transportation to attend the adaption of a live play after completing our first book study "Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells!"
This is an opportunity that most of our kids would normally not get. This trip will not only be a great reward for their hard work, but also a way to motivate student reading achievement. We hope this authentic experience will instill the love of literature and the arts in our student's hearts for a lifetime.
