Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Being diverse and inclusive are major components of the mission and vision statement we strive for everyday. Our efforts each day to ensure that our campus provides a safe and welcoming environment for all of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, sponsors, and community members.
This project is mainly targeted for the parents and community members who come into our school.
When their parents come to meetings such as Coffee with the Principal, Parent Information Night or College Awareness Night we give them great customer service and provide the necessary information for the child/children to be successful.
My Project
As the Parent Engagement Representative, Community Outreach Coordinator, VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools) Coordinator I like to provide great customer service to all who visit our school. One of the main goals for me is to be very inclusive of parents who speak other languages.
Having a language barrier makes it difficult for parents to feel comfortable attending important information meetings that our school does at a mass level in our auditorium.
Having these devices at our campus will facilitate any meeting or assembly.
As the main translator for our meetings using these devices will help me translate on the spot as the main presenter is speaking. When we have these gatherings, parents are often discouraged to attend because the meetings tend to be very long as they have to wait for me to translate after the main speaker.
We want to ensure our parents that they are an important aspect of their child's education and their involvement is greatly needed and appreciated. Family is an important aspect of everyone's life, and when a student sees the involvement of their parents, they are motivated and will achieve great things.
