Transitioning Into Virtual Learning!

Help me give my students the visual educational support they need at this time. The Dry Erase Easel, the Laptop Stand and the High-Interest Emergent Readers would make teaching from home more effective and keep my students engaged.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

During this pandemic, when teachers are separated from their students in the classroom, providing stability is essential. Help me give my students the virtual enrichment opportunities they need by allowing me to have the tools to teach them from home.

I am striving to create a fulfilling home/classroom to help my students learn and develop their skills.

By helping me fund this project my students will be able to have a much better chance to engage in Online Distance Learning.

I am a Special Education teacher. My students are part of a self-contained autism school program. They have a love for learning; however, they have severe speech, language and cognitive delays. They are nonverbal and it’s hard for them to learn socially acceptable cues and behaviors.

My students can learn when presented with visual supports and concrete objects. Visual supports expand their ability to engage in learning and process receptive and expressive language. They learn most effectively through the use of a multi-sensory approach and rely on the combination of visual and auditory cues along with constant teacher modeling during our live virtual lessons.

My Project

When I left my classroom in March, I never thought I wouldn’t be back for the remainder of the school year, and possibly throughout the summer. My students are mandated to attend a "Twelve Month School Year Program." I didn’t take anything home that would facilitate this transition into a Distance Learning Classroom Model. Although, we aren’t in the four walls of the classroom, we still owe it to our students to provide them with quality learning. Learning Will Not Stop!

The materials and resources that I have requested will allow me to teach and host live Google Meet Lessons.

A Dry Erase Easel that is both big and adjustable for use during live and recorded lessons will be very useful. It will help me teach virtually, as my students learn most effectively when they see me model and prompt their responses. I feel that it will recreate familiar aspects of the classroom in our Distance Learning Classroom. My students will be able to participate fully and be engaged in our Distance Learning lessons.

Additionally, I selected High-Interest Leveled Readers to be used during our virtual read-aloud lessons. The students will have the opportunity to share their responses to the read-aloud with their classmates. A graphic organizer will be displayed on the Dry Erase board during our Virtual Lessons.

A Laptop Computer Stand will provide a clear view for my students when I teach my live lessons on Google Meet. I will place the laptop computer stand on my kitchen counter top. My students will be able to see all the necessary information on our Live and Recorded Lessons on Google Meet. The computer stand will free my hands, so I can direct the students and give them clear instructions while providing them with prompting.

Thank you advance.
