We are a Title I school in a small, rural neighborhood.
My kindergarten students are ready to explore and learn!
They are energetic five and six-year-old girls and boys who love to be in the middle of everything. When given the opportunity, they can make substantial discoveries while having fun. The best part is that they do not even realize they are learning as they explore. I love seeing the excitement on their faces as they make these new discoveries with their friends.
My Project
I have been doing three or four room transformations for the past two years. My students absolutely love being able to pretend to be a spy or a bat! What better way to learn than to transform ourselves into the topic of discussion.
My students are heroes every day!
I want them to feel like a hero as they learn. The superhero capes and masks will be used to help them understand the vowel's job (they have a big job of long and short sounds). The construction hats and safety glasses will allow them to construct or build words. The chefs' hats and aprons will allow us to "cook up" many different lessons as we also learn manners. When we dress like doctors, we will be fixing sentences, contractions, etc.
I want to do more room transformations for my students and need these prompts to make it "real" for them. Their excitement is contagious when we transform not only our classroom, but also when we transform ourselves!
