My Students

Technology is transforming the ways teachers deliver, manage and assess instruction. Today's students have a better opportunity to embrace education and truly become lifelong learners with access to new and transformative uses of technology in the classroom.

My twenty, 1st grade students represent a diverse population of racial and ethnic backgrounds.

They attend a K-8, public charter school in California that is committed to helping them become conscientious, compassionate, and responsible citizens of the world. We embrace an inquiry based, student centered pedagogy and offer classes in all subjects including performing and visual arts, language and PE.

My Project

Using iPads in the classroom is truly a transformative experience for my students. Students can use the iPads to develop basic reading and math skills; to access archived digital instruction; to collaboratively write literary and informational texts; to document learning engagements with photos; to access safe, online databases to explore units of inquiry; and to create and maintain digital portfolios.

Having access to digital technologies enables students to develop digital literacy's and practice the skills and attitudes they will need to become productive and responsible digital citizens.
