As students take higher level math courses, they explore more concepts, learn to apply them, and start connecting mathematics to other science courses and technology. Our school is a Title I school, which means a majority of our students come from low, socio-economic backgrounds.
Due to state and school budget problems, my students and I do not have access to enough supplies to meet our educational needs.
My students are a very diverse group of kids who are truly eager to learn but lack the necessary materials.
My Project
Students will learn the transformations of functions. They will then create a page which will help them visualize and understand the various types of transformations. They will incorporate vertical and horizontal shifts, reflections of graphs, and nonrigid transformations.
Students will create a page using Google Docs or Microsoft Word that summarizes the various transformations of functions.
After completing this assignment, they will need to print their results. By completing this assignment students will be able to better and faster transform functions on later assignments, quizzes and exams. This assignment will ask students to include a written description as well as graphs in an organized form.
