Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an amazing group of energetic 2nd graders who are eager to learn. These kids brighten my day everyday! Our school is made up of a culturally diverse population with 100% of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch.
My dream is for our students to look forward to coming to school and to feel excited about learning without feeling the pressure of the circumstances that they may face at home.
I strongly believe that every student, no matter where they come from, deserves an equal chance to excel and succeed.
My Project
My students need surgical gowns, masks, clipboards, and props to transform my classroom into an operation room where they are the doctors that need to "operate" on reading passages and math problems. They also need race day gear for other transformation occasions where our room becomes a speedway in which they compete in sight word and math fact races. With the grand finale at the end of the day in science to feature magnet races!
Classroom transformations create an engaging learning environment that students will never forget.
Students, especially mine, need learning that is fun and engaging to help them grow their minds and retain the information taught. We all learn from those hands-on experiences in which we are able to make connections. Those experiences are exactly what I am trying to create for my students with this project.
