Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have reached their requirements for high school and are now working on vocational skills. They are preparing to enter the working world and need some extra help along the way. My students have various disabilities that affect their learning. To ensure these students are independent, successful adults, we need a little help along the way. We all know that technology plays a big role in our everyday lives. To ensure my students' success, I want to give them the technology skills needed to make them successful young adults.
My Project
Having an all-in-one computer with a touchscreen can be very beneficial to students with varying disabilities. Many of my students are unable to do traditional pencil paper tasks and the all-in-one computer can provide activities to help these students find success. Students with visual impairments can benefit from the 23 inch screen as well as voice over commands, the touchscreen can accommodate those with fine motor delays and there is a camera built in so students can practice self help skills. Through the use of the all-in-one desktop computer, students can also download apps to strengthen reading and math skills and fill out job applications and practice independent living skills; such as buying groceries online.
