My Students

My Japanese classroom is different from many classrooms for several reasons, but one of the major reasons is the students that take my class. No one signs up for Japanese thinking it will be easy. My students are there because they love the culture, and want to know how to communicate in and understand the language. We work very hard to develop cultural awareness in my classroom, as well as working hard to acquire the language. Even though acquiring a language takes hard work, we have a blast doing it.

My Project

The International Forum on Language Teaching has some amazing presenters this year, many of which I follow online and try to learn from at a distance. This conference would give me a chance to interact with these experts, who are globally and nationally renowned as experts in the field of second language acquisition. I am hoping to walk away from this experience more adequately trained in current practices, research, and with more resources and strategies to use in my classroom. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from the best teachers out there, and I want to be able to apply what I learn to my own students.
