Help me give my students a classroom library, remind them that they are Trulove's Treasures and learning adds to the value of their life through being provided with necessary materials and enrichment.
Trulove's Treasures are first graders absorbing vocabulary, navigating feelings, taking pride in reading, developing mighty math minds, and generally maturing at a rapid pace! The goals in our classroom are clearly stated, and students have ownership of their learning and development through LSI, team work and participation, practicing kindness, and developing social skills.

Students must feel important, cared for, and respected to learn. This is why the state standards are taught using teamwork, literature, conversational skills, and encouragement.
Our demographic is children from apartments, single family dwellings, many forms family, and includes approximately 25% English Language Learners. We are in the third largest urban school district in the state, with many initiatives and a fairly broad range of techniques.
My Project
Trulove's Treasures is what I call my students. They are treasures to me, their families, and our classroom and school. The word treasure is taught on the first day of school, and vocabulary is added to it throughout the year. Students must feel treasured, cared for, and provided for to learn and grow. These materials will provide a pleasing environment and comfortable place to learn and feel included. It is important for the students to be part of a community.
In first grade, literacy is the main focus, and I am building a classroom from scratch, as we are adding a section.
Students need to process, calculate, and navigate in many areas of their education in first grade, and a strong foundation is necessary for continued learning and growth. These children are treasured, and will learn to treasure one another throughout the year with a variety of learning activities and techniques, including LSI, Kagan, and Social Emotional Learning.
