My students need atlases to analyze geographic factors like economic interdependence, population density, and migration. The atlases will help them visualize global connections and prepare them to be the global economists of the future!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are incoming 6th grade students from Houston’s under served South East Side. My students and their families are still recovering from the impact of Harvey, an overwhelming majority of which became homeless after the storm, while 89% of them were already dealing with poverty before the storm.
My kids are curious, engaged, and committed to their future success, they just need a community to believe in them, in order to help them achieve their goals.
Famed Educator Rita Pierson said, "Every child needs a champion". Our students need only for their community to believe in them, and invest in their future, and they will move mountains.
My Project
Our students need to be able to see the physical and political barriers that global trade and economic migration overcomes in our society.
They will utilize map skills in order to understand challenging concepts like economic interdependence.
World atlases will help them visualize these concepts and trace the connections between countries around the globe. These skills prepare the students for the global economy, and for the higher level courses in high school, college, and beyond.
In order to compete in our global economy, these students need to be prepared with this knowledge when they become the future business men and women of the world.
