Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of our students and athletes come from low economic households and nearly eighty percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Although we hold fundraisers throughout the year, team gear has been wearing out through the year and we are in need of new items as soon as possible. Asking students and their families to take time out of their busy schedules, on top of the other events we already ask them, to fundraise even more would be unfair.
My student-athletes work very hard throughout the year to prepare for the upcoming season.
This includes AAU tournaments throughout the Spring and Summer, 6 a.m. morning workouts, and practices throughout many of their vacation days. Their dedication to the program and their work ethic is remarkable.
My Project
The items we've requested are essential for our workouts that we do throughout the offseason. With no certainty of basketball season this year, we are trying to gear up for an extended offseason period as best as we can. The bands, balls, and ladders will be used in and out of the gym. The bands and ladders are essential to our speed and agility training throughout the offseason.
It's much easier to stay in shape than to get in shape.
Although we may not have a season, we will continue to prepare and workout like we will. Keeping the kids active, while doing something they enjoy is our ultimate goal and we hope you can help us.
