My Students

Our school is an inner city Minneapolis school with rich cultural diversity, the greatest demographics being African American and Hmong. As a physical education teacher, I work with students in pre-K through 5th grade and of all levels and abilities. Often, my students come from homes with little access to equipment and extracurricular opportunities. My students love coming to the gym to learn new skills and showcase their abilities in a welcoming and supportive environment. They are hardworking students with eager attitudes and a love for play and learning!

My Project

I aim to provide my students with mindful activities within a compassionate and diverse environment. As a teacher, I am committed to developing socially responsible, life-long learners. We are in need of proper equipment to make this mission and vision successful.

Tumbling helps improve coordination and increase body awareness.

Tumbling mats are used for many activities, not just gymnastics. This type of equipment would not only provide a safer environment but also promote social skills, responsibility, and healthy living. Cooperative games and leadership activities are a must in physical education but we cannot be successful if we do not have the proper equipment to participate safely.
