Our students come from various socioeconomic and family backgrounds. We come together to celebrate our learning as a grade-level team. Second graders at our school love learning in new and different ways. They are motivated to learn with creative lessons and activities.
The 102 second graders thrive on hands on learning opportunities that keep them moving and engaged in lessons.
The students are encouraged to try new things and learn from mistakes. We want to continue to encourage our students to explore and grow.
We would like to add to our classroom libraries a variety of trade books to go along with our new reading materials. We would like to supplement our books with other themes and genres. Our grade level team will read the books as read-alouds and let students re-read them.
We plan on having a dinosaur unit and would like to engage our readers and writers with dinosaur stickers and toys.
Having these items for students to play with and then encouraging them to write stories about their imaginative play will add to our unit study. We are looking to transform some of our learning space with dinosaurs for the 3 week unit.
