Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students not only come from a low income area, but they are also working to learn the English language. Despite all the hardships they have outside of school, they come to school ready to learn.
I teach at a Title I school, where 88% of our students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.
We provide Blessings in a Backpack, where students can take a bag of food home on the weekends.
Regardless of their circumstances, my students walk into my classroom with smiles on their faces. They are so eager to learn. They deserve the materials that will help to push them to reach their full potential.
My Project
Having these stools would make a difference in my students' learning by allowing them to have a comfortable stool to sit on when at small group.
Students will choose what type of seating best meets the needs of their learning style.
Choices empowers my students and increasing student engagement. It will provide them the option of choice: chair or stool.
When my students are at my small group table (4-8 students at a time) we are practicing reading/math skills. The time spent at small group is one of the most valued part of our day! Which is why I am wanting these stools for my students. It is at this time I get to fill in gaps or reteach to those who need extra practice.
